The latest postcode jab data compiled by NSW Health was updated this week and showed Wagga had up to 39 per cent of its population fully vaccinated with Albury only having up to 29 per cent doubled dosed.
Member for Albury Justin Clancy, whose electorate covers large swathes of southern NSW, said the challenge had been laid down to Albury by its neighbouring major regional centre rival.
"It's certainly commendable the response from people to get vaccinated, but we wouldn't want Wagga to keep bragging rights over us in that regard," he said.
He was also impressed with the response from smaller communities including Mulwala.
"I'm tickled pink with Mulwala," he said.
"It's a great community and no surprise they are leading the pack.
"They are a pro-active place and are responding well."
The push to get vaccinated in the Yarrawonga-Mulwala community is being bumped along by a video produced by Stella Mulquiney, the daughter of Yarrawonga Football-Netball Club president, Ross.
"It's so important everyone gets vaccinated so we can get out of lockdown," she said.
"I've done videos for dad and the footy club in the past and love doing that sort of stuff.
"He felt it was important to promote the vaccine rollout by showing that the football-netball club was right behind everyone doing that."
The postcode data also reveals Lavington, Holbrook, Culcairn, Corowa and Howlong were also trailing the region's pacesetters with up to 29 per cent fully vaccinated.
Alma Park is performing worse with up to 19 per cent.
