Clubs were asked to vote on two motions put forward by the league's executive committee earlier in the week.
The first motion was to postpone a condensed finals series until September 11.
The second motion was to abandon the season.
All 12 clubs voted to play a finals series if possible.
The league will now eagerly await news whether the Victorian government will ease restrictions with the announcement expected early next week.
League operations manager Gavin Rendell said clubs remained committed to a finals series despite not having not played since July 10.

Victorian based players haven't been able to train as a group since last weekend.
"It was unanimous that clubs haven't given up hope of playing finals," Rendell said.
"The structure of the finals series is still to be determined.
"NSW has extended its lockdown until September 10 which is also a factor.
"The clubs were really supportive even though there are serious doubts about playing finals.
"They don't think it will happen but are happy to support it if it does."
Both the Picola and District and the Goulburn Valley leagues have announced that they had been forced to abandon their seasons.
