Trainer Norm Loy disqualified for three months for breach of social media policy

Loy posted a expletive-ridden rant aimed at NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian and the lockdown in the state on Facebook during the week.

He fronted stewards at Friday's meeting at Albury racecourse.

Loy pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, stewards found Loy guilty and disqualified the former jockey for three months.

Loy said he won't appeal the disqualification which starts immediately.

"I think I was harshly done by and anything I post on Facebook is my own personal space," Loy said.

"The steward said that I brought racing into disrepute because I have got 2700 friends on Facebook.

"I said 'I can't help it if I'm popular'.

"The population of Australia is 23 million people and I've got 2700 friends so I found that laughable.

"But it is what it is and I will cop the ban and move on."

Loy has a long association with racing as both a jockey and a trainer.

He rode over 400 winners predominantly in the Southern Districts before retiring from the saddle in 2004.

Loy gained his trainers licence shortly afterwards and has stints of training both full-time and part-time since gaining his licence.

The father-of-four including jockey Brodie, has trained more than 50 winners.

Loy is due back in early December but will be forced to miss the entire spring carnival before reapplying for his licence.
