Kylan Jones, 19, appeared in Wodonga court yesterday via video link following the incident on April 23.
He confronted the 16-year-old victim at the front of the boy's Wodonga home over $500 he believed he was owed before entering, intimidating him, and attacking him.
Another person filmed as the teen was punched multiple times.
The video was posted online and came to the attention of Wodonga detectives, who searched Jones' home on May 11.
He was streaming to social media as he fled, but jumped a fence and was arrested.
Magistrate Peter Dunn said a corrections order wasn't appropriate and said Jones would need to attend court today in person.
