The 14-year-old boy had his spleen removed and lost half of the blood in his body following the incident near Willow Park in Wodonga on July 17, and spent a week in hopsital.
Dylan Meyers and Dylan Robertson allegedly laughed during the incident, which the Wodonga Magistrates Court heard stemmed from a planned marijuana sale by Robertson.
The two accused men allegedly met the victim in a laneway near the park before Meyers punched him in the jaw, followed by several more blows.
The Wodonga Magistrates Court heard the victim tried to flee but was punched and kicked, and kneed in the stomach, before his satchel bag was stolen.
Meyers allegedly said "give me all of your s---" and the 14-year-old handed over his jacket, shirt, shoes and pants as the pair laughed.
He ran more than 300 metres to a house and asked for help from his mother.
Detective Senior Constable Brianna Gibson told the court the teenager's health declined "severely" during the evening of the assault, and he had to be taken to hospital with internal bleeding for emergency surgery.
He lost two-and-a-half litres of blood and had his spleen removed.
"From this incident, the victim is severely impacted," she said.
"He is now going to be on medication for the rest of his life."
Police believe the pair dumped the bag when they realised how serious the 14-year-old's injuries were.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Meyers, 20, is accused of previously attacking the same boy on June 18 as he was riding to school.
He was allegedly punched in the cheek and jaw and fell onto Felltimber Creek Road, and was almost hit by a car.
Meyers also came to police attention on July 21 when a white Subaru was stolen from Finch Street in Beechworth and driven to the Astor in Albury, with Meyers and two others arrested.
Detective Senior Constable Gibson said there were other matters pending, and said the robbery was an "atrocious offence to a 14-year-old victim, causing him to lose his spleen".
The boy was at first reluctant to talk to police, but officers were notified by hospital staff as part of mandatory reporting laws.
"He was really brave and did (an interview) and stood up for himself," the detective said.
Magistrate Peter Dunn refused Meyers' bail application to October 14.
Robertson is on bail and will return on the same date.
