The last season has only just finished, but the 12-month recruiting train is about to hit top speed.
While there's 'football fatigue' after battling COVID for 18 months, O and M clubs simply have to forge ahead to 'keep up with the Joneses'.
"We certainly can't sit still at the moment, we're talking to people that we've spoken to in the past," Roos' head of football Craig Spencer revealed.
"The key thing about (officials) being exhausted after 18 months is we're trying to spread the load and have as many people involved in that area."
Privately, some coaches often confide that recruiting is the toughest part of their role.
However, Wangaratta's Dean Stone, who has now finished his head coaching role with Ben Reid taking control, thrives on it.
