Albury's Citi Cafe shouts 100 free coffees to hard-working Border organisations

Owner Jeff Claxton, who took over the cafe with his wife Krittaya, in 2018, said they were proud to be one of the Border's only hospitality businesses to remain open for the entirety of the pandemic and have continued to give back.

"The 100 coffees donated will go to team members within each of the community groups and organisations who are going above and beyond in their roles in helping community members in need across Albury-Wodonga," Mr Claxton said.

"Citi Cafe has been able to do this through the generous support of its regular customers making donations and have been overwhelmed by what has been provided.

"I feel really proud that our customers have paid for a lot of coffee because they've seen what we're doing and wanted to throw $50 or $20 at us.

"We had cards printed and donated by Plan Scan and by the end of the week we will have them handed out to all of the organisations.

"Every organisation is also getting a letter to say they've been nominated and I'm going to acknowledge them for the wonderful work they're doing in the community in their sector.

"It's good to show the community there's still a bit of spirit out there through these difficult times."

Mr Claxton said the goal when he and his wife purchased the cafe was to make it a community hub destination and believes they've achieved that.

Citi Cafe selected Albury-Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre, Albury-Wodonga Connected Communities, RSPCA, Aspire Support Services, Social Plus, Albury Hospital ER department, Anglicare, Women's Centre for Health and Wellbeing Albury, Icaria Health and Albury-Wodonga Aboriginal Health as the 10 groups chosen for its giveaway.
