NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she is giving Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews 'a few weeks' before having discussions with him about the reopening of the Victorian-NSW border.
"I've been through what he's going through, it's very scary when the case numbers are going up, you're not sure when things are peaking so I think he'll be in a position to have those discussions in a few weeks," she said.
"So I'll leave him to manage the delicate situation down there for now but I think it's in the best interests of our nation and our citizens for NSW and Victoria to move forward together."

NSW has recorded 863 cases of COVID-19 and 15 deaths.
Three cases were acquired overseas.
In the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday 120,281 tests were received.
Of the newly announced deaths, eight are men and seven are women.
Two people were in their 40s, two were in their 50s, four people were in their 60s, three people were in their 70s, one in their 80s, and three people were in their 90s.
One person was fully vaccinated against COVID.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said from October 11 aged care residents are able to welcome two fully vaccinated visitors per day.
NSW is at 86.2 per cent first dose and 61.7 per cent second dose vaccination.
Ms Berejiklian said the state's hospitalisation and ICU rate was tracking under what was predicted in modelling.
Ms Berejiklian issued a 'cautious warning' to everyone to avoid complacency between 11 October and 80 per cent second dose so the state avoids a surge in cases and hospitalisation beyond what the health system can manage.
Victoria reported a record 950 new cases of COVID in the 24 hours to midnight, and seven deaths.
