The board of Cricket Albury-Wodonga will lock in dates after meeting with the presidents and captains from all 32 clubs across its Provincial, Hume and District competitions.
It's hoped the season will start next Saturday, October 16, although it could be the following weekend.
Contrasting vaccination rates on either side of the border mean a flexible approach will be required.
ALSO IN SPORT
The provincial competition, comprising eight NSW clubs and four in Victoria, could start exclusively in NSW as T20s with reserve grade at 12pm and first grade on the same ground at 3pm.
But with junior competitions and representative games also needing to be scheduled, finalising the calendar is far from a simple fix.
Community sport will be permitted in NSW and Victoria once 80 percent of the population has been double-vaccinated.
