According to the data Albury local government area has 86.2 per cent of its population vaccinated with their first dose and 54.6 per cent fully vaccinated.
On the other hand, 86 per cent of Wodonga has received a first dose and 56.6 per cent are fully vaccinated.
Albury mayor Kevin Mack said the twin cities looked like they were going hand in hand.
"It's in everyone's interest to (get vaccinated)," he said.
"I think initially there was a bit of a lag because of the condition on both sides of the river.
"And police being in the middle is not really ideal, but people have really taken up the gauntlet and can probably see the light at the end of the tunnel, hopefully."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Meanwhile, Murrumbidgee Local Health District chief executive Jill Ludford said she didn't believe there was a correlation between low vax rates in Edward River council and the issue of Deniliquin hospital staff declining the jab.
According to the data, 60.3 per cent of Edward River Council residents have received their first COVID-19 vaccination, while 45 per cent are fully vaccinated.
"I don't really think there's any great correlation, I think it's just a statistical anomaly that they're all in the one place," she said.
"We're seeing only 45% of people in that Edward River LGA that have been fully vaccinated, and when the state's talking about a 70% full vaccination rate, that's a concern.
"I do think it is duly attributable to the amount of supply that has been available in that region and I'm really pleased now our colleagues in the Primary Health Network have confirmed there's a much greater supply going through to the region now.
