COVID vaccination proof has been integrated into the state government's check-in app on the same morning the government confirmed it would not re-open the regions to Sydney from Monday.
Sydneysiders will be locked out of regional NSW until at least November, NSW Deputy Premier Paul Toole told radio on Friday.
Mr Toole said the decision was due to a lack of double vaccination to date in regional areas.
The NSW government has also announced that COVID proof of vaccination has been integrated into the Services NSW app.
Minister for Digital and Customer Service Victor Dominello said restrictions easing from 80 per cent double vaccination, which could be as soon as Monday, would make the integration valuable for businesses required to check the status of their patrons by law.
This is an extra digital service to make life easier for the businesses and customers of NSW as we open back up. NSW is the first jurisdiction in Australia to roll out an integrated QR code solution for displaying vaccination status State wide, Mr Dominello said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
When someone visits a venue, they'll be able to show their green check-in tick and vaccination status simultaneously, saving staff and customers time.
While integrating the COVID-19 digital certificate on to the Service NSW app will be optional, it will be the by far the easiest and quickest way to prove you're fully vaccinated.
Australian Hotels Association NSW director of liquor and policing John Green said traders involved in a trial of the integration had reported it made checks simpler for staff.
"The convenience of having a customers vaccination status presented alongside their check-in will allow for a seamless entry and take pressure off venue staff," Mr Green said.
"It certainly makes the process quicker."

Labor had earlier called for the government to guarantee the app roll-out would be ready soon after missing the Monday October 11 "freedom day" deadline.
"The government left it in the hands of businesses to be on the frontline and police people's vaccine passports," Swansea MP and Shadow Minister for Digital Yasmin Catley said.
"Many businesses simply do not have capacity or the resources to have people on the front door checking people's vaccination status".
"The Service NSW vaccine app was designed to fix this direct issue. It is one simple check-in that verifies the vaccination status of the customer, it should have been ready to go on Monday."
