Two cases in the Myrtleford area, testing efforts being increased

There are not expected to generate any tier one exposure sites.

AWH Local Public Health Unit executive director Lucie Shanahan said a primary close contact of a Wangaratta case tested positive in a Myrtleford household and gave the virus to one of their household members.

"We know that the Wangaratta case is the source of acquisition," she said.

"Contract tracing has well and truly commenced and we know Alpine Health has supported the community today.

"We don't have any new tier-one exposure sites to report for North East Victoria today.

"The contact tracing has indicated that the vast majority of people have been isolating since they have been tested, so it's really pleasing to hear that people are doing the right thing in terms of getting tested and then heading home and isolation."

Alpine Health says all positive cases are isolating and being supported by local services, with contact tracing underway.

Anyone identified as a close contact will be contacted directly by the contact tracing team, however Myrtleford residents and anyone who visited Myrtleford from Saturday 9 October to Tuesday 12 October should check the list of exposure sites regularly at https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/case-alerts-public-exposure-sites and monitor for symptoms.

Exposure site information will be distributed as soon as we are advised.

Alpine Health asks that people only come forward for testing if you have attended an exposure site during the time of exposure, or have cold or flu-like symptoms, or have been contacted by the Victorian or NSW Department of Health and told to get tested.

You do not need to present for testing if you were not at an exposure site during the time of exposure and have no symptoms.

Bright and Mount Beauty hospitals are also offering testing.
