The Lincoln Causeway will be closed to traffic overnight on Tuesday while council undertakes works along the road near Union Bridge.
The closure will take place from 8pm.
A council spokeswoman said the works would allow the removal of the overhead gantry on the Lincoln Causeway.
She said a recent engineering report deemed major works were required to ensure the gantry's ongoing structural integrity and removal was considered the most viable option.
