Wodonga testing clinics reach capacity before 9am

It was the second day in a row Angela Westneat and her daughter Ally, 5, were unable to get tested despite the child being in close contact with a positive COVID case at Wodonga Primary School's after school care.

"It would be very nice if we had a reason as to why we're getting turned away, that way we could work around it," Ms Westneat said.

"With children, we obviously need to change our schedule and our lives to attend the clinics and I'm very worried about putting [my children] through the stress of a third day tomorrow."

Ms Westneat said her other child also needs to be tested but the trio have been turned away from all three clinics.

"It's very frustrating, it affects my work and the children need to be tested, not only that but they're very scared about it even though I've been trying to reassure them," she said.

"It's a big deal for them."

Just before 9am, Albury Wodonga Health announced its clinics on Smythe Street, Wodonga Racecourse and Vermont Street had all reached capacity.

"Wait times are already exceeding our hours of operation today," the health service said. Residents were advised that if they had attended an exposure site, been told to get tested by the Department of Health, or had cold or flu-like symptoms, they must isolate if unable to be tested.

Yesterday a number of schools closed after a community member tested positive, and more exposure sites were added, increasing the number of people required to be tested.

In total 28 schools have been included in the outbreak.
