He stepped down at the end of the season after three years at the helm.
Lowe said he was waiting to see who was coach before deciding on his future.
"I sat down with the club and after three years at the helm we both decided it was time for a bit of a refresh," Lowe said.
"I fully supported the decision and as much as I enjoyed coaching, you can only do it for so long before it's time for a change.
"I'm still weighing up my options for next year and am waiting to see who is appointed as coach before I make a final decision.
"I'm probably 90 per cent staying but we'll wait and see what happens."
Lowe revealed the club was close to securing his replacement over the weekend until the deal fell through at the last minute.
"The club was confident of signing a coach last week but couldn't quite secure the deal," he said.
"But the club is meeting with a few more potential coaches this week and could have something locked in by the weekend.
"There has been plenty of interest in the position and it's just a matter of finding who will be the best fit."
Wahgunyah have lost five players to Corowa-Rutherglen.
Jacob Beveridge, Lachie McGill, Deakin Clancy, Lachie Conboy and Adam Romey all recently signed with the Roos.
"They were coached by Dave Melksham at Corowa in the thirds and he has convinced them to head back there next year," Lowe said.
