The sixth worker returned a positive result overnight on Tuesday.

There have been no deaths additional to those previously recorded on October 17 and October 20 in residents who were receiving end-of-life care.

The Commonwealth Department of Health received notification from the NSW State Health Emergency Operations Centre of two new COVID positive infections on October 18.

"The first Outbreak Management Team meeting was held at 12.30 pm on October 18," a spokesperson said.

"The Public Health Unit (PHU) and the Murrumbidgee Local Health District are undertaking investigations into the source of the COVID-19 outbreak at Mercy Place Albury.

"The Australian Government Department of Health has provided assistance in the form of a Clinical First Responder.

"It is the PHU's responsibility to identify the source of the infection.

"There have been two deaths in COVID-19 positive residents that have been announced by NSW Health.

"Both residents were receiving end of life care.

"In NSW, a COVID-19 death is defined as a death in a confirmed case unless there is a clear alternative cause of death that cannot be related to COVID-19, with no period of complete recovery from COVID-19 between illness and death.

"The determination of cause of death is the responsibility of the medical practitioner."

The new case in a staff member comes after no cases were recorded in the 24 hours to Tuesday, as reported by MLHD public health director Tracey Oakman.

"The Mercy Place outbreak is undergoing ongoing monitoring," she said at Tuesday's media conference.

"We haven't had any new cases in the last 24 hours, so that's positive, but we will continue to test and monitor the residents there and the staff there for a period of time until we believe there can be no further cases.

"Staff are being tested every day before they go to work with the rapid testing that they have, and residents will continue to be monitored."
