The Border Mail has compiled a list of RAT kit collection details from Albury schools.

What are rapid antigen tests?
Rapid antigen tests or RATs are a quick and easy screening tool to help detect COVID-19 in people who do not have symptoms.
It involves a nose swab being placed in a chemical solution. Results can be ready within 10 minutes.
Why are they being given out by Albury schools?
The NSW Department of Education is working with NSW Health to stop the spread of COVID-19 in schools and among school aged people, because the current COVID-19 outbreak is predominantly impacting young people.
How do I use the test?
If you opt in to use them, instructions on how to use the tests, check results and safely dispose of the kits are provided within the packs.
Are the tests compulsory?
The tests are not compulsory.
The RAT is an optional screening measure and you are not required to participate if you choose not to.
How many test kits can I get?
Two weeks worth of RAT kits will be provided for each student.
This will come in a pack of four kits to be used twice a week.
What do I do if my child gets a positive or invalid result on their RAT?
If your rapid antigen home test returns a positive result, go to the Albury Entertainment Centre to get a COVID-19 PCR test.
The Murrumbidgee Local Health District is working to streamline the PCR testing process for students who get a positive RAT test.
Is the RAT the same as a PCR test?
Rapid antigen home tests are not a replacement for a COVID-19 PCR test.
If you or your child feel unwell, do not attend school and get tested with a COVID-19 PCR test as soon as possible.
What do I do if my child gets a negative result on their RAT?
If your child's result returns as 'negative', then they can go about their day as normal which includes attending school.
Are RATs available for non-school involved community members?
At the moment, immediate staff and students can use the RATs.
But it is expected that you will soon be able to buy more RATs at pharmacies and supermarkets if you need more for yourself or other members of your family.
