Wodonga TAFE students will have the chance to undertake training on new, emerging and innovative technology after five hybrid cars were donated to the institute.

The two Toyota and three Lexus cars, donated by Jacob Toyota and Lexus of Wodonga, will be used in both the Light Vehicle Mechanic and the Motorsports Technology courses.
The need for the cars reflect the growing popularity of hybrid and electric vehicles and the donation will allow students to develop the necessary skills to work with the new technology.
Wodonga TAFE chief executive Phil Paterson said the donation would help prepare students for working in the modern industry.
"In keeping up with the ever-changing light vehicle landscape, these vehicles will be invaluable in the delivery of new hybrid vehicle training for Wodonga TAFE," he said.
"We're very grateful to Jacob Toyota Wodonga and Lexus of Wodonga for their continued support of Wodonga TAFE and our students."

Principal dealer of Jacob Toyota and Lexus, Dean Jacob said hybrid and electric vehicles were experiencing a huge uptake across the market.
He felt the opportunity to donate the cars was important to the future of the industry.
"We're really excited to be contributing to the continuing development of technicians across the industry, and to ensure the practical skills and experience students are gaining through TAFE is with technology that is becoming more and more the industry norm," he said.
Wodonga service manager Jason Lowe said the next generation of apprentices would have a very different set of skills than those in the past.
"By providing these vehicles to Wodonga TAFE we believe this will bring long term gain to new mechanics coming into the industry," he said.
"Over recent years we have seen a shift in the popularity of hybrid and electric vehicles and it's important that our vehicle technicians are trained in how to maintain these vehicles to the highest of standards."
