In total there were 56 teams around the region, from as far as Benalla, Bright, Yarrawonga, Walla, Walbundrie, Corowa, Rutherglen and Albury-Wodonga.
As of time of publishing, the teams had raised a combined $190,000, but that amount was expected to grow past $200,000 as the teams had until the end of the week to collect and donate all funds.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Border Mail's own Brett Kohlhagen was team captain of the Walla Walkers.
''We exceeded all expectations by raising $4500 for the regional cancer centre,'' he said.
''Everyone was rapt with that.
''While a lot of Walla people did the walk, we had some travel from as far away as Whitfield."
Mr Kohlhagen said the Walla Walkers team involved people of all ages.
''About 50 people did the walk, with Elizabeth Heir, who is in her 80s, our oldest walker, and a heap of primary school aged kids.
''Everyone just wanted to support such a good cause.''
