A man in his 60s from Albury, who was unvaccinated, died at Box Hill hospital in Victoria.
In a statement, the Murrumbidgee Local Health District it wished to express its deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones impacted.
In Victoria, 12 were recorded in Wodonga, 12 in Indigo Shire and seven in Wangaratta.
The Albury Wodonga Health Community COVID Consult Clinic is currently caring for 365 COVID-positive individuals from across the border region.
There are currently ten (10) COVID-positive patients in hospital, with one (1) in our Intensive Care Unit.
MLHD confirmed on Sunday that 17 new cases had been recorded across its catchment area in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday.
Of the new cases, 14 were recorded in Albury, two in Federation and one in Wagga.

Murrumbidgee Local Health District said 97 per cent of those aged 16 and over in the district had received their first dose and 88.8 per cent were fully vaccinated.
"Of those aged 12-15 in the Murrumbidgee LHD 80.2 per cent have received their first dose and 58.3 per cent are fully vaccinated," MLHD said.
"In the Albury LGA, where we are managing our current outbreak, 80.5 per cent have received a first dose and 46.9 per cent are fully vaccinated."
The MLHD urged the community to come forward for vaccination, particularly those aged 12 to 15.
"Vaccination is the best way to protect our kids, families and the wider community from COVID-19," MLHD said.
"This is an important step in getting our community back to a 'COVID-normal' environment and importantly, to protect others who may be more vulnerable to illness."
Murrumbidgee Local Health District is partnering with Albury Wodonga Health to provide a vaccination clinic at Wodonga's Upper Murray Family Care this week.

There has been a total of 737 cases and nine deaths recorded in the MLHD since the start of the current outbreak.
Of the 737 cases, 575 were in Albury LGA, 25 in Hilltops LGA, 32 in the Greater Hume LGA, 15 in Edward River LGA, 35 in Murray River LGA, 14 in Federation LGA, 12 in Berrigan LGA, 17 in Wagga Wagga LGA, two in Coolamon LGA, two in Murrumbidgee LGA, one in Cootamundra-Gundagai, four in Griffith LGA, one in Temora LGA, one in Lockhart LGA and one in Snowy Valley's LGA.
