When Nicole Jean Byers was finally stopped and arrested she tried to deny it was she driving the car.

Moments earlier, Byers pulled into the driveway of a house in Alexandra Street, East Albury.

The wanted youth was in the car, along with a "very young child" in the back.

"I wasn't driving," Byers told police, before she immediately contradicted her story.

"That's why I was driving the way I did, because I'm sick of yous (sic)."

Byers then provided a positive preliminary test to both cannabis and methamphetamine, though a charge has not yet been laid.

The unemployed 39-year-old of Fern Place, Albury, will be sentenced on Monday after previously pleading guilty to dangerous driving, not stop vehicle when directed to do so, resist police and hinder the apprehension of a person who committed a serious offence.

She was to have been sentenced this week, but defence lawyer Prasad Pahalawela said Byers had been excluded from court after informing sheriff's officers she had undergone a COVID-19 test.

Albury Local Court magistrate Richard Funston was told how police were patrolling the Albury area on August 13 when, about 1.40pm, they saw Byers' red Holden Commodore parked at Billson Park.

Police were also aware that the wanted teenager with Byers, who drove away as they approached the car.

They followed then she did a U-turn on Mate Street.

"As the vehicle did this, the driver ... took both hands off the steering wheel and gestured to police and yelled 'what the f---'."
