Wodonga detectives are investigating two suspicious grass fires on the Hume Highway at Barnawartha.
A blaze was detected in the centre median strip of the highway, about a kilometre north of the town, about 1.15pm on Monday.
There was a blaze in a similar location about 7.40pm on November 16.
Both fires were brought under control quickly after burning grass and scrub and are being treated as suspicious.
"It's concerning given we're coming into the fire season," Detective Senior Constable James Howarth said.
"We take these incidents very seriously, especially given the time of year.
"There was a fair bit of grass that was burnt.
"We're hopeful someone might have seen something given the time of day."
