Wangaratta Highway Patrol officers were patrolling in the Myrtleford area when they detected a speeding vehicle on Myrtle Street about 7.30pm on Monday.
The white Holden utility was pulled over and the 57-year-old Melbourne driver returned an alleged alcohol reading of .217.
His licence was immediately suspended and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days, with drink-driving charges expected.
It comes after Wodonga highway patrol observed a speeding black Volkswagen Golf around 4pm on the Beechworth-Wodonga Road in Wooragee.
The vehicles speed was locked on the moving mode radar at 143 km/h in a 100 km/h speed zone.
The vehicle was intercepted and found to be unroadworthy; it was also being driven by an inexperienced P1 Probationary driver.
The driver was issued with a penalty notice, a defect notice and had their licence suspended for six months.
