But Sophie Elizabeth Sweeney secured the result only because she had agreed to move back to Albury to live with her mother.
Had she remained in Melbourne, where she has spent several years, she would not have been eligible for the intensive corrections order - a sentence of custody served in the community - handed down by Albury Local Court magistrate Richard Funston.

"I think I'm going to have her stay in NSW; the driving was that serious," Mr Funston said, on placing Sweeney, 31, on an eight-month order.
"She was on a death wish, really. It seems her life is in a much better position now."
The court was told, via a report prepared by Jesuit Social Services, how Sweeney had gone through extremely troubled times in the past couple of years, with the deaths of her father, partner and grandfather.
Her partner's death, defence lawyer Dane Keenes said, was especially hard as he took his life during a video call with his client.
Mr Funston said he was "very impressed" with what Sweeney, who was supported in court by her mother, had achieved since in dealing with such a significant "amount of trauma".
Mr Keenes said at the time of the incident on June 12, Sweeney was also "coming down" from methamphetamine she used two weeks earlier.
The court heard previously how Sweeney drove through a stretch of roadworks marked as an 80km/h zone north of Albury on the Hume Freeway at an estimated 195km/h.
She accelerated to 210km/h, eventually stopping near Racecourse Road.
Mr Funston said his sentence on the charges of police pursuit and driving under the influence of cannabis took into account her being on a community corrections order in Victoria at the time.
"The driving was absolutely out of control," he said.
"You had drugs in your system at the time and for that reason the threshold (for a jail sentence) has been crossed."
Sweeney was also disqualified from driving for 18 months.
