The 2009-13 mayor declared her interest in the role on Tuesday, following the new council being finalised with the declaration of the poll on Monday.
"I would be happy to be considered as a potential candidate to be either mayor or deputy mayor, but definitely as mayor," Cr Glachan said.
"I am currently the longest continually serving councillor, I have served as deputy mayor as well as four consecutive terms as mayor.
"I acknowledge there are a number of potential candidates and the community deserves to have someone they have confidence in and the respect of and somebody that is flexible to represent the community at various times of the day."
Cr Glachan would have more time to devote to the mayoralty than previously, as she no longer has primary school aged children and has sold her East Albury lighting business.

She pointed to her knowledge of the Albury 2050 plan, Albury Wodonga Regional Deal and Thurgoona-Wirlinga blueprint as an asset.
Albury Councils have usually opted to elect the highest vote puller as mayor for the year after an election.
Cr Glachan drew 705 individual votes behind former mayor Stuart Baker (1003) and DJ Steve Bowen (884).
"Tradition is very important but we've got to make sure the people putting their hands up for the role have the skills and ability and the background to make sure they're the best," she said.
Cr Baker was unsure if he would stand for mayor after having the role in 2007-08.
"I'll think about things over Christmas and see where things go from there," he said.
"I think all councillors need to do that, they need to think about things going forward and who the best person is for the job."
Cr Bowen said he would consult his election team leader Kylie King, saying they both had the capacity for the role, pending time commitments.
"Never say never, when I do something I like to go all in," he said.
Meanwhile, Albury supermarket owner Bob Mathews has triumphed in his election bid for Lockhart Shire.
The IGA proprietor finished second in a ballot for the three-member ward which covers the Lockhart township.
Cr Mathews would like to establish a Lockhart Gift athletics carnival.
He said with a new pavilion at the recreation ground it was important to have more events there.
