While Corey Malcolm Cannon was not seen to have thrown any punches, he was still identified on CCTV footage among those involved.
Albury Local Court magistrate Richard Funston told the 24-year-old he had taken into account the fact he had never before been in trouble with the law.

"But it shows how serious the affray (charges) are," he said, on convicting the Lavington man.
Cannon, who represented himself in court, pleaded guilty to one charge of affray, laid by police a month after the incident took place on October 2.
As with several others involved in the fight, Cannon's offending had no connection to a later incident in which an Albury policeman suffered serious head injuries after allegedly being kicked by a Wodonga man.
Mr Funston placed Cannon on a 12-month community corrections order, without supervision, matching the penalties handed down to several others who previously appeared before him.
Cannon told the court he was "not quite sure" about much of the circumstances of the brawl as "it happened quite quick".
"It was like a 30-second brawl."
Police told the court the incident happened just after 8.30pm when one group of men leaving the Public House bar in Dean Street got into an argument with another group seated outside at tables.
He and his friends walked off along Dean Street, then the other group followed and the brawl erupted.
