"I'm just not prepared to not make it full-time jail," he said, after the court heard Allen, 27, was already serving an intensive corrections order at the time he committed the offences.
Defence lawyer Jaimee Simonsen had argued against full-time custody.
"It's initially conceded they're very serious offences," Ms Simonsen said.
But she said Allen would benefit from supervision in the community, through another intensive corrections order.
Allen was facing sentence on two charge sequences.
The first involved a single destroy or damage property charge related to an incident on May 15. Allen, while "highly intoxicated", ripped off the bottom two corners of a sign at Henty's Doodle Cooma Arms Hotel, having already caused grief for fellow patrons with a bout of hostile swearing while "highly agitated".
Police told the court that Allen, who went to the pub - driven by his partner, the victim of the assault on June 6 - about 8pm.
He was immediately refused service so left the hotel to sit in the car, but soon after he returned to the pub, made a nuisance of himself and committed the damage on his way back out.
The couple returned to her address, then her father turned up and tried to convince him to accept a lift back to Allen's residence in Lyne Street.
Allen refused and insisted on walking home. Police on patrol in the pub then received reports of an extremely drunk man near the hotel who was being aggressive.
He was taken to Culcairn police station, where he admitted to police he had drunk, with a mate, a 700ml bottle of whisky and a 750ml bottle of bourbon whisky.
The second sequence against Allen, who police said had an "extensive criminal history", involved two charges of assault, two of intimidation and a single count of using an offensive weapon with the intention of committing an indictable offence.
Allen yanked the victim's arm back so hard it caused her considerable pain.
He also sent a text message threatening to torch her home.
"Go away, Jake," she replied.
Allen has served previous jail terms for domestic violence.
