The Liberal Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell said she has asked Richard Wynne to commit recurrent funding of $838,172 per annum over four years.
Ms Lovell said this would allow lead agency, Junction Support Services, and other community stakeholders to implement The Wodonga Project, which is aimed at helping disadvantaged youth.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The Wodonga Project is a community driven reform initiative to tackle youth disadvantage in the region and the Minister needs to work with the community to implement this program to improve the lives of local youth," she said.
"The Inquiry into Homelessness recommended the Victorian Government invest in initiatives throughout Victoria that were linked to the COSS Model.
"I urge the Minister help address youth disadvantage in the Wodonga region and provide the funding needed to make The Wodonga Project a reality."
The Victorian Minister for Housing said he's investing in support for young people's futures, but he has not committed more funding to the project.
"We have announced $50 million for new innovative housing projects for youth experiencing or at risk of homelessness across Victoria," he said.
"This will deliver a range of options including youth foyers that integrate housing with education, employment and other support services, or youth housing accommodation and projects focused on young Victorians leaving out of home care."
