Part-owner Allan Endresz recently decided to switch stables with his group one winner with Bott and Gai Waterhouse the new trainers.
Alligator Blood shot to stardom after his victory in the Australian Guineas in February last year.
But almost two years later, the son of All Too Hard has failed to win another race after being plagued by injury including kissing spine which required surgery.
Endresz is hoping the Waterhouse and Bott polish can help Alligator Blood recapture the form he showed as a three-year-old.
Bott said there were no guarantees a change in stables would spark a sudden turnaround in the out-of-form five-year-old gelding.
"Obviously, we are going into it with a pretty open mind," Bott told RSN927.
"It's been a long time since he's been winning and in between he's had a long layoff. We want to do the right thing by the horse all the way through.
"This may be his last opportunity to see if there is any form that can be resurrected with a change of scenery and with that level of foundation off fitness built up over the last few months."
