AWH executive director of public health Lucie Shanahan said a seven-day isolation for children was the status quo unless new advice was issued for school settings.
"We haven't had any indication at this stage as to whether the Victorian state government is considering making changes to the start of school or how school might go back," she said.
"I'm sure remote and flexible learning are possibly words that parents don't ever want to hear ever again.
"However, we do know that with the with the paediatric program starting today for five to 11 year olds, and there is an eight week lag between dose one and dose two for children ... there is some hesitancy amongst parents for kids to return to school.
"We'll wait and see what the state government has to say."
There are now 1223 active cases in Albury and 446 in Wodonga but Ms Shanahan said only one person was in hospital.
"The majority of infections are in people aged between 20 and 40 years of age, which is not surprising given the high social period that we've just come through," she said.
"Our hospitalisation rates at this stage remain really low, which is what we're aiming for.
"Blackwood Cottage in Beechworth ... reported two COVID positive cases last week; thankfully, there have been no new cases reported since last Wednesday.
