A community organisation connecting men from across the Coast will celebrate three years of mateship this weekend. Since launching in 2019, the Ulverstone Mr Perfect barbecue has grown from a few men to over 20 plus attendees, with some travelling from as far as Burnie and Port Sorrell to join in the fun. Ulverstone Mr Perfect volunteer host Greg Smith said grassroots social activities, like this one, offer men an opportunity to connect with others to create a sense of belonging, saying, "not feeling like they belong is something that men can sometimes struggle with". "There are times and stages in our lives when we can feel lost, and on our own, it's a tough place to be in," Mr Smith said. "The chats might be about sport and fishing, but they help build connections and make it easier to talk when things aren't going great." Men of all ages and life experiences are encouraged to come along to talk, listen, tell stories, and laugh together.
