Canowindra's Jenny Weaver and Kevin Walker will both rely on preferences to see them return to Cabonne Shire Council. As of 6pm Monday Ms Weaver was sitting in 11th position on the vote count, one position behind Kevin Walker. Two new Canowindra candidates Andrew Pull, with 718 votes, and Kathryn O'Ryan with 636 votes, look assured of positions on the new council. Ms Weaver is currently sitting on 251 votes and Mr Walker on 291 votes. Speaking with the Canowindra News this week Ms Weaver said she hadn't given up hope of returning to council but if it wasn't to be she said she had enjoyed her time serving the Canowindra community. Ms Weaver added it would be disappointing to see both herself and Kevin Walker missing out which would see Canowindra's representation on the council fall from four to two. If she does miss out Ms Weaver said she was available to assist any of the new councillors as they transition to the roles. Anthony Durkin and Cheryl Newsom who were Cabonne councillors last term didn't seek re-election. Canowindra's Andrew Pull, Molong's Kevin Beatty and Marlene Nash still fill the top three positions in voting. Pull enjoyed immense support from the Canowindra community, earning a bumper 38 per cent of the first preference votes lodged at the Canowindra High School booth on voting day to roll past a host of other candidates. As of Monday night Beatty lead the count with 1854 votes, followed by Marlene Nash 1084 and Andrew Pull with 718 votes. Andrew Rawson had received 628 votes, Kathryn O'Ryan 636, Jamie Jones 633 votes, Peter Batten 506 votes, Libby Oldham 373 Aaron Pearson 373 votes, Kevin Walker 291 votes, Jenny Weaver 251 votes, Greg Treavors 212 votes and Peter Mullins 204 votes. 8243 votes had been counted 7763 formal and 480 informal. Dr Andrew Rawson, Jamie Jones and Kathryn O'Ryan also continue to poll well. All had received more than 600 votes as of Tuesday morning.
