UPDATED: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing from the state's south coast. David Lane, aged 54, was last seen by family on Sunday, August 18, when he left his home in Surf Beach, near Batemans Bay. He has not been seen since this time, with family and police holding serious concerns for his welfare. On Friday, August 23, police, assisted by specialist resources, searched an area on the western side of Haycocks Road, Pambula Beach, after information received suggested the missing person may have been in that area. However, Mr Lane has still not been located. He is described as Caucasian appearance, with a medium build and light brown hair. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact police immediately. FRIDAY: A search of the Pambula area by the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter on Friday has failed to locate a reported missing person. A spokesperson said the Southern NSW rescue helicopter was called to the area around 9.30am after being requested by NSW Police to search the area for the missing man, whose identity is unknown. At 1pm the helicopter crew returned to their Moruya Airport base after finding no trace of the man after an extensive land search. NSW Police have been approached for comment. ALSO MAKING NEWS
