The 31-year-old Albury man came to police attention on Thursday morning after a grey trailer was stolen from the rear of a home in Jones Street in Albury.
The trailer, which was attached to a white Ford Falcon, was spotted at the Shell service station in Wagga Road a short time later, with a passenger in the car filling the vehicle with $95 worth of fuel.
The car was later involved in a break-in at Masterbuy in Watson Street yesterday morning.

Store manager David Shen said two men had broken into the store through a rear door and tried to steal four televisions valued at $5000.
“They had gloves on to avoid leaving any fingerprints,” he said.
“When the police came they fled.
“They left the four televisions behind.”
Police pursued the car to Albury and the vehicle was found in Albury yesterday.
The two men were also involved in a burglary at the same store on Tuesday, which again targeted televisions.
The thieves had also bungled that burglary, with three of the four televisions falling from the back of a truck as they attempted to drive away from the business.
Wodonga officers yesterday charged the 31-year-old with burglary, theft and attempted theft, and the man also had old warrants out for his arrest.
He was bailed to reappear before Wodonga Magistrates Court on April 21 and police are continuing their enquiries into the co-offender.
Mr Shen had a warning for anyone who wanted to target his store.
“I just want people to know they will be caught,” he said.
“We have CCTV.”
