Falcons were competitive and will have learnt from the experience, but United controlled play for long periods to win an important clash in the women’s top grade.

Wombats had a surprise 3-0 win over Magpies, only their second victory of the season.
It was a top team performance led by hat-trick scorer Casey Hunter and Jessie Nixon.
Premiers Norths got back on the winners’ list with a close-fought 4-3 win over an improving Wodonga.
In the men’s competition, United showed a dominant and skilful style to return to the winner’s list after consecutive losses in a 6-0 belting of Falcons.
United was strong on the ball and forced numerous turnovers, starting with dominant defenders Stuart Martin and Jarrod Ambrose.
The combine led 2-0 at half-time, and despite Falcons being competitive for long periods, the floodgates opened in the last 15 minutes through creative play by a dominant Tim Jones and the United strikers.
United’s best were Matt Baker, Andrew Monte and Tim Jones, while for the Falcons defender Matt Evans, Matt Mills and Fenn Dawson worked hard.
A polished and determined Wombats had another dominant display with a 2-0 win over Magpies.
Norths added to the ladder congestion with a 3-3 draw against Wodonga.
