POLICE have recovered guns from a car and arrested three people in dramatic scenes on the Hume Highway.
About 10 police cars sped to Table Top after reports the southbound car was carrying firearms on Wednesday.
A silver Hyundai with P-plates was pulled over in what police describe as a “high-risk vehicle stop” about 11.30am.
Police - possibly with guns drawn - demanded the three occupants slowly exit the vehicle one by one.

Another portfolio has been added to the growing responsibilities of Sussan Ley, with the Farrer MP announced on Wednesday as the new Aged Care Minister.
The move comes just two weeks after she received the phone call from Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to say she was keeping her health and sport portfolios in the ministerial reshuffle.
Responsibility for aged care had previous come under the social service portfolio, now held by Christian Porter, but has been transferred to Ms Ley’s health portfolio.

NORTH East firefighters have returned from the United States after helping locals battle fierce wildfires.
Three firefighters from Wangaratta and Ovens touched down in Albury on Wednesday after a five-week stint overseas.
CFA member Justin Tilson said they had been welcomed by the Americans with open arms.
“I hadn’t even been to a fire and we pulled over in a small town,” he said.
“Everyone knew there were people from Australia who had come to help and they wanted to buy us lunch and coffee and tell us how good we were for helping out.
“They were just so grateful we were there supporting them.”

STAR midfielder Wade Lees is leaving Yarrawonga and the Ovens and Murray league to pursue a punting career in the US.
The former Casey Scorpions and Frankston Dolphins VFL player is on the radar of several high-profile college teams in the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast conferences.
Lees dreams of playing in the NFL, but his main goal is to get a college degree and play college football.
“In a perfect world that would be great,” the 27-year-old said of his NFL prospects.
