Eryn Norie and Macey Sutherland, both 16-year-old students of Tallangatta Secondary College, have been selected in the School Sport Victoria 16 years and under girls hockey team.
Three trials had been held in Melbourne since April before the final team of 16 players was chosen.
The squad will train twice a week in the four weeks leading up to the School Sport Australia hockey championships in Melbourne.
Sutherland, a defender who lives in Kiewa, and Wodonga midfielder Norie have each played for their state several times before.
Sutherland’s mother Donna said the teenager dislocated her knee six weeks ago and had been doing strength and conditioning work with the North East and Border Academy of Sport.
“They’ve been helping her with the rehab so that she was able to attend the final trial last week to be able to be selected,” she said.
