It was the 13th time in 14 years that Albury-Wodonga had lifted the cup, after winning eight of the 10 matches.
The competition has been running for 37 years.
Wagga’s open men took the lead early in its clash, with Phil Stone scoring an impressive goal following a tense opening 15 minutes.
Stone was quick to celebrate in style, enthusiastically riding his stick around the field like a horse.
But Albury-Wodonga hit back to score the next four goals, running out comfortable 6-1 winners.
The open women’s game was tight early, before Albury-Wodonga broke through the Wagga defence.
Wagga keeper Georgia Hughes fought valiantly, but to no avail as Albury-Wodonga ran out 5-1 winners.
The day started positively for Wagga with the under 18 boys and girls teams both winning their respective matches.
But Wagga’s fortunes soon evaporated, with the under 13 and under 15 sides simply outmatched by stronger opposition.
Wagga veterans teams put up a strong effort against Albury-Wodonga with much improved results from last year.
But the end result was the same with Wagga still unable to knock off their rivals from the Border.
Hockey Albury-Wodonga operations manager Cayte Campbell said the results were pleasing.
Albury-Wodonga’s junior teams were similar to those that took part in the recent Victorian Junior Country Championships in Melbourne.
The senior sides were made up of in-form players from the local competition.
Sunday’s action ran from 9am to 6pm.
