“There was such a reaction from the folks over there that were so disappointed because they thought I wouldn’t go back again,” Grant tells The Border Mail.
“Halfway through the tour I said ‘this is ridiculous, of course I’m going to come back again’. As long as the folks want to see me I’ll keep coming back.”
Grant is a household name in Scotland and Ireland and has developed a large following here in Australia and New Zealand.
“I’m very, very lucky with New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Ireland and the UK … I’m very, very fortunate that people like the songs and that they like me singing to them. I’m very very lucky,” she says.
Grant launches a huge 50-show tour of Australia and New Zealand at the Albury Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, September 5, and will visit Wangaratta on September 12.
With a new album, I’m A Survivor, and her extensive repertoire of most loved music Grant promises another show to remember for her loyal fans.
There will not only be songs but plenty of chat and stories, her husband Al will perform Jim Reeves classics, and Grant hints at a few surprises.
“People are waiting for their favourite songs to come on but I’ll also sing some songs from the new album, maybe a few new ones as well,” she says. “We just really hope that everyone really enjoys the show and goes home feeling that they've had a good time with us.”
She has also been in the studio recording A Winter’s Tale which will be launched during the Australian concert tour.
“I had actually done a Christmas album years ago but it was never taken to Australia so I went into the studio and recorded a brand new Christmas album … So hopefully that will be a surprise for everyone and be on the table,” she said.
