More than 200 people have caught up on the broadcast on YouTube since the recording was uploaded on Tuesday.
A camera mounted to the ceiling of the new council chambers recorded the meeting, but only picked up comments when councillors turned on their microphones.
The system used in the chamber only allows one microphone to be switched on at a time, when it is a councillor’s turn to speak, meaning much of the banter between those at the table on the night could not be heard on the recording.
The beginning of sentences were sometimes missed because councillors started speaking before hitting the “on” button of their microphones.
Initial reports from viewers were that people enjoyed the fact they could watch the meeting from their homes, but some were frustrated by the low quality.
Monday’s meeting with the new technology was the first to be held in the $700,000 chamber on the ground floor of the council’s Hovell Street headquarters.
Chief executive Patience Harrington started the meeting by assuring the public gallery the camera was positioned to record councillors at the table, but warned it was possible their presence may be captured at times.
A larger than normal number of attendees were at the meeting, many there for the controversial Wodonga Gold Cup public holiday debate, but mayor Anna Speedie said she hoped the big crowd would continue for meetings held at the new chamber.
The first item passed in the new location was a decision to officially rename Bond Street in Wodonga, located off High Street, to Jack Hore Way.
The move comes 16 years after the previous Jack Hore Place was renamed as the road now known as Elgin Boulevard.
“The Hore family has been waiting quite a few years for this one so they’re really supportive of this, that’s what’s really important here,” Cr Kat Bennett said.
