Football Federation Victoria launched an investigation after photos revealed Twin City player Tyler Curran played for Murray United’s under-20 side against Werribee City FC on June 16.
FFV prohibits dual registration under the National Registration Regulations in accordance with FIFA regulations, meaning a player can only be registered with one club at a time.
FFV docked Murray United’s senior and under-20 sides three points for the 2019 season and imposed a $30,000 fine, $25,000 of which will be suspended.
Curran has also been suspended for three games and must obtain an international transfer clearance before the end of this year.
Afonso was found to have brought the game into disrepute.
