The home side needed just a handful of runs for a six-wicket win, so striker Alex Popko did his best to get the Irishman back on strike.
“Alex nudged one to gully and said yes, but Aaron was out by a bit, he was alright about it, but ‘Poppers’ was very disappointed with himself,” coach Luke Styles said.
Gillespie’s 99 was from just 96 balls with 13 boundaries and three sixes.
He’d earlier taken 4-37, while leg-spinner Kade Brown claimed 5-17.
Elsewhere, Belvoir’s Drew Cameron hit 80, but Lavington won by seven wickets, while New City beat Raiders.
