Organisers of the 24-hour relay at Birallee Park in late October announced the Cancer Council fundraiser’s final total on Friday.
Cancer Council western region community relations co-ordinator Brianna Carracher said the committee was thrilled by this figure, which was only slightly down on last year’s result.

“It really shows the support of the community,” she said.
“Each year they come together, put on this amazing effort and raise this huge amount of money.
“Cancer affects so many in the community, so an event like this brings people together for a common cause.”
The next Border Relay For Life will be held at Alexandra Park, Albury, on October 26 and 27, 2019, with registrations to open in the new year.
