The runaway competition leaders edged past Wodonga, 93-91, with the rinks split at two apiece.
Shawn McMahon’s side managed to sneak past the Wodonga rink skipped by Paul Davies, 20-19, while Chris Cooney’s 28-22 result against Kylie Whitehead would prove crucial in the final result.
Wodonga’s wins were a 27-23 triumph for Josh Rudd against Matt Robertson, with Ashley Bates pipping Kevin Morrison, 23-22.
YMGCR leapfrogged Wodonga into second spot with a hard-fought 100-88 salute away to Wangaratta.
Garry Sanders’ 29-16 victory against Trevor Selwood was a major factor in the result and was one of YMGCR’s two rink wins.
Leslie Spencer got past Greg McDonald’s rink, 22-15, while James Lefevre and Ian Brimblecombe played out a 25-all draw.
Wangaratta picked up the remaining points with a 30-24 win for Maurie Braden against Raymond Irvine.
Corowa Civic continued its late-season resurgence with a 112-84 victory against Kiewa Valley – collecting 16 of 18 points.
Thomas Webb got back to his best with a 40-22 result against Jude Bartel, Colin Hendren’s 31-14 win against Rob Bartel was equally impressive.
Greg Leahy defeated Geoff Kidd, 22-18, with Dale Mastenbroek grabbing Kiewa Valley’s only points with a 30-19 triumph over Daniel Webb.
Yarrawonga continued its impressive season with a solid 109-86 result against Chiltern at Chiltern.
All four rinks went the way of the visitors with Ian Woods’ 31-20 victory against Neil Pryor the biggest margin.
Tim Cromie edged out John Payne 25-21, Tyson Cromie got past Craig Campbell, 30-25, while Kevin Evans won a good battle against John O’Neil, 23-20.
