The mare was being set for the Albury feature in March but has sadly succumbed to a tendon injury.
She will be retired immediately.
“Unfortunately she sustained a tendon injury this week,” Beer said.
“After consultation with a couple of vets, we decided to make the gut wrenching decision to retire her immediately.
“We could of given her time off to heal but she is a valuable broodmare and with the breeding season just around the corner, she can start her new life as a broodmare.”
Beer holds fond memories of Dreams Of Paris who he originally purchased from New Zealand in 2017 where she had six starts for one win.
She quickly proved to Beer she was an above average galloper – winning at Kilmore at her fourth start in Australia.
The classy mare then broke through for her first city win at Caulfield early last year.
His stable star didn’t let him down with a valiant second in the Hobart feature.
“She came over from New Zealand, having won a very average maiden,” he said.
“To go on and win at Caulfield and then only show her full potential last start in Listed company.
“I was setting her for the Albury Cup and to lose her now is upsetting.
“She has been the stable star and I was counting down the days to the cup because I thought she would prove more than competitive.
“Going from dreaming of winning the Albury Cup to losing you stable star – it’s a bit of a shock.”
Beer was adamant the best of Dreams Of Paris was still to come.
“She was a late maturer and her last run was a career best,” he said.
“I still feel fortunate to have trained her and importantly for the owners, she is probably worth in excess of $200,000 as a broodmare.”
Dreams Of Paris won four of 24-starts with a further seven placings.
She won almost $120,000.
