Lawless has been brilliant at times for Yarrawonga, hitting form on the eve of the 2017 finals after a disappointing season.
He played 15 senior games last year, but also spent a month in the reserves.
“He’ll be a fantastic acquisition for us, given we’ve got a fairly young list and he’s going to provide great experience to the group,” co-vice-president Josh Buerckner said.
“I reckon he’ll certainly provide a bit of that X-factor I suppose.”
When Lawless was asked about his form for most of 2017, he was blunt.
I’ve been terrible all year,” he said at the time.
“Fitness and lack of commitment I guess, to be honest, all my own fault.”
But at his best, Lawless was a handful and he also had the ability to star in the big games, featuring in the Pigeons’ 2013 premiership win over Albury, as well as last year’s first semi loss to Wangaratta.
