District business manager Laura Tierney said changes made for female firefighters since the group launched in 2016 were something to be celebrated this International Women's Day.
One of the major achievements has been to have feminine hygiene kits on all fire trucks and in all stations across the district, meaning women can feel confident that essential supplies are available when needed.
The group also has a voting position on the District 24 planning committee, to ensure the voices of women are represented; developed a buddy system guide for brigades to use when recruiting new members; and enabled female CFA members to attend leadership and development opportunities.
"There are very few females in leadership positions in the district currently, we hope to see this change in the years to come," Ms Tierney said.
"If the voices of women are represented by females in leadership positions within brigades and groups, then the WRG will happily see themselves out of a job."
The group is waiting to hear if its enhancing volunteerism grant application with the CFA has been successful as part of plans it has for the next year.
Ms Tierney said networking events would be conducted across the district to touch base with female members and, depending on grants, host an event aimed at all women in the community.
