The decision was made after Racing NSW was unable to find a suitable date in the coming weeks that does not clash with Group 3 races run in Melbourne and Sydney over the cup distance of 2000m.
Racing NSW also wanted to avoid clashes with upcoming SDRA feature races including the Gundagai Cup and Murrumbidgee Cup at Wagga Wagga.
Instead, an additional race meeting has been programmed at Albury on Thursday, April 18.
The meeting will be a Showcase meeting with $240,000 in prizemoney.
IN OTHER NEWS:
All the prizemoney will be paid by Racing NSW, with the Albury Racing Club not being required to contribute any of the prizemoney.
"The addition of a Showcase meeting provides the opportunity for a wide range of trainers and owners in the region to race for prizemoney that would have been paid on Albury cup day," Racing NSW Chief Executive Mr Peter V'landys said.
Racing NSW awaits a final report as to why the Albury track did not drain appropriately in certain areas and will undertake rectification works to ensure suitable drainage is in place in the areas affected.
