Mellier hurt his knee last weekend against Mitta United when he was on the receiving end of a heavy bump in the opening quarter.
He was sidelined for the remainder of the match.
"I'm still unsure of the damage," Mellier said.
"I only had the MRIs done on Tuesday so I'm still waiting for the results.
"The doctor suspects that I have done my ACL.
"I also had X-rays which revealed a fracture at the top of my shin which is going to require a plate and screws.
"So even if I don't require a knee reconstruction, I'm going to be missing for a large chunk of the season regardless."

The diagnosis was better for key forward Jesse Johnston who injured his shoulder in the final quarter.
Johnston was able to pop his shoulder back into place and could be available after the Easter bye weekend.
