DOG'S DEPTH
Depth won't be an issue at Thurgoona this season. Despite injuries to high-profile recruit Jesse Johnston and Lucas Mellier last weekend, the Dogs had the luxury of Aydan Brown, Jake Bruce and Rory Muggivan running around in the reserves. Skipper Darcy Moore, Zach Gibbons and Matt Murray were also on the sidelines, so there is plenty of pressure on for spots at the kennel.
MOUNTAIN BOYS
Mitta United coach Phil Packer wasn't too disheartened by the Blues' 38 point loss to Thurgoona last weekend. To their credit, the Blues kicked the same amount of goals as the opposition after being blown away in the opening quarter. "We targeted youth and leg speed and I guess with youth you have your share of pain before you see the gains," Packer said.
DROUGHT BREAKER
Can Wodonga Saints snap their winless drought against Beechworth this weekend? The Saints are on a 21-match losing streak and a home game against the Bushrangers will be one of their best opportunities all season to notch a win. "We only got outscored by a goal in the second-half against Yackandandah last week and our good footy at the moment is good footy," Gerard Midson said.
